About Pet Tech & Care
Who writes Pet Tech & Care, how we research pet products, and how the site is funded.
Pet Tech & Care is an independent, research-based guide to pet tech and everyday care kit for UK owners.
Why this site exists
Pet product listings mix marketing claims, optional subscriptions and lookalike gadgets. Bluetooth tags get sold as "GPS". Costumes ignore breathing and movement. Health aisles blur grooming aids with medical promises. These guides try to separate the useful specs from the noise.
How we research
- We do not hands-on test products and we never claim to. There are no invented test results, scores, quotes or review counts on this site.
- We start from checkable criteria – capacity, power, connectivity type, manufacturer size/weight limits, subscription requirements, and welfare constraints.
- We shortlist products listed on Amazon UK whose published details meet those criteria, and we explain the trade-offs in our own words.
- Every product link is checked on amazon.co.uk when a guide is written or updated, and the check date is shown at the top of each guide. Listings that disappear are removed.
- We don't show prices or star ratings on product cards, because they change. Always check the current price, seller and reviews on Amazon before buying.
- Health content is limited to sensible grooming, dental and care aids. We do not diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, or make unsupported claims about supplements. If your pet is unwell, contact a vet.
If a guide gets something wrong, email hello@pickedproper.co.uk (or see the contact page) and we'll correct it.
How the site is funded
Pet Tech & Care is funded by affiliate commissions. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links are labelled Ad wherever they appear, and buying through them costs you nothing extra. Commissions never decide which products are included – see our affiliate disclosure for detail.
Sister sites
- Proof & Crumb – sourdough and bread-baking gear for UK kitchens.
- The Gifting Year – gift ideas across the calendar.

Every photo on Pet Tech & Care is a real photograph, downloaded and served from this site (no hotlinking). Most come from Unsplash: the Unsplash License allows commercial use without attribution, but we credit photographers anyway. Some product photos come from Wikimedia Commons under the Creative Commons licence named next to each one; they were resized and cropped for this site, and those versions are available under the same licence. Product photos are labelled as a photo of the product, a similar item, or an illustrative photo – they are not Amazon product images.
